In our day to day routines, it can be easy to forget or overlook the things we take for granted. A nice hot meal, a roof over our heads and a warm bed to sleep in are just some of those things. What about our families? Do we truly cherish the time we all have together? While the question may be easy to answer, this is what gave birth to an idea that Paragon's CEO, Mike Baab, had several years ago.
The Birth of the Trust
While reading the newspaper one morning in 2001, Mike came across a story of a single mother that had terminal cancer. The mother had small daughters and like many single parents, had not been able to afford family vacations and feed her children. After receiving news that she didn't have much more time to live, she longed for the chance to take her daughters on a real family vacation. Mike's heart went out to this family. He knew what it was like to have a family member suffering from the same disease. He wanted to do something to help. He decided to help give the one thing that the mother couldn't...a vacation for the family.
This act of service to the family is what led Mike to form the Paragon Films for Christ Trust. Since it's establishment in 2001 the Paragon Trust has helped many different families and non-profit organizations. Organizations such as the American Red Cross, Neighbor to Neighbor, the Salvation Army, John 3:16, Meals on Wheels, and many more. Sometimes the Trust committee will hear of families who have suffered a loss and they will help with some of the heavy burdens such as hospital bills, utility bills, or even funeral costs.
The Trust’s Foundation
The Paragon Trust exists to promote compassionate, unselfish help and support to those in need. It’s the goal of the Trust to be good witnesses by seeking opportunities that glorify God and share the love of Jesus Christ. The foundation on which the Trust was built can be found in Philippians 2:1-5. It says, “If you have any encouragement from being united with Christ, if any comfort from His love, if any fellowship with the Spirit, if any tenderness and compassion, then make my joy complete by being like-minded, having the same love, being one in spirit and purpose. Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit, but in humility consider others better than yourselves. Each of you should look not only to your own interests, but also to the interests of others. Your attitude should be the same as that of Christ Jesus.”
While it is Paragon’s goal to be the best in the stretch film industry, we realize that as people, the goal is to share the Love of Christ to others.
